May 15th, 2018 marked a very special day in the history of Cotebrook Village Hall when our President, Bill Holroyd CBE, DL and his wife Julie performed the Foundation Stone Ceremony. The ceremony commemorated the commencement of the construction of an entirely new front section to the original main hall which would provide modernised kitchen and toilet facilities as well as adding an extra meeting room. The couple were joined in glorious sunshine by special guests including The High Sheriff of Cheshire, Alexis Redmond MBE, her husband Professor Phil Redmond, CBE. Also present were representatives of the local community, members of the village hall management committee, regular hall users and the pre school children, parents and staff. Two of the pre school children, Thomas Ridway and Annabelle Rock, presented Julie Holroyd with a beautiful posy of spring flowers,
In addition to a grant from the funding agency WREN, the management committee are extremely grateful for the very generous donations made from Sir John Timpson, CBE, The Holroyd Foundation, Phil Redmond CBE and his wife Alexis MBE, the Bernard Sunley Foundation, the Garfield Weston Foundation and the Leverhulme Foundation.
Judith Walters, chairperson of the Cotebrook Village Hall management committee, gave a brief vote of thanks to all present and to all contributors saying “it is great to see our vision for this vital community facility moving closer to reality. We are very grateful to our sponsors for providing funding as we would not have been able to go ahead without their support.”
